Description
This was once the upper hoist building, running ore carts up and down the mountain for the Treadwell Mining Complex in Douglas, Alaska. Early in the Twentieth Century, the mines here operated twenty-four hours a day, except for Christmas and the Fourth of July. Today, the ruins stand as a mute reminder that the works of Man will one day crumble to dust.
