This photograph is part of a series shot in an abandoned cemetery in Haines, Alaska. The earliest grave markers are from the 1890s. I was thoroughly enjoying my ramble through the little cemetery, located just off the Haines Highway, until our dog began to growl at one of the markers. Maybe there was an animal in the trees beyond the grave, but I did not stay around to see!
I am a long-time Alaskan, having lived here since 1970. I am retired from state service, after working for the Alaska Department of Corrections for twenty years. In my spare time, I take pictures. I have enjoyed photography since junior high, and I have an extensive photo library. I am working to turn my pictures into an income source to supplement my retirement. My photos include landscapes, nature photos, and abstracts. I have a particular fondness for shooting abandoned places or objects. Subjects range from Southeast Alaska to Interior Alaska, and the stretch of Canada in between. I retain the rights to all images I have posted here.
