Description
This motor once ran in one of the power plants at the long-deserted Treadwell Mine in Douglas, Alaska. Around the turn of the 20th Century, tens-of-thousands of people lived and worked at the mine site. Now the mine is slowly fading back into the forest. The 240 Power Plant supplied electricity for the 240 Stamp Mill. The mill was named for the 240 stamps which crushed the rock to extract the gold ore.
