Description
This abandoned car has been slowly rusting away for decades. It rests in the trees near Amalga Harbor, 24 miles from downtown Juneau, Alaska. The natural harbor does not offer mooring slips. It has a double launch ramp and a small dock for loading and unloading, as well as a kayak launch ramp. This harbor can be quite busy in the summer!
Historically, Amalga was the site of a summer home belonging to Ernest Gruening, Territorial Governor and one of Alaska's first senators after statehood. The cabin is still in use, and can be viewed on one of the area trails.
