Description
The temperature was hovering around zero during a visit to Fairbanks, Alaska. Fairbanks often sees temperatures well below zero, so this day seemed very pleasant to me. During early January, the sun barely clears the horizon in Interior Alaska. The golden hour stretches into four hours, and the light is gorgeous. This sign is adjacent to the Chena River, not far from the airport. As the sign says, this ice bridge is for the use of snow machines. Further upriver is an area often used by trucks. Snow machine tracks are clearly visible on the river as well as the opposite bank. The moon hovers on the horizon in the distance.
