Description
I found this piece of equipment rusting in the trees near an abandoned farm in Delta Junction, Alaska. It had been there for years. Trees had grown up through the frame, and lichens were growing on the body. A little bit of research led me to identify this as a seed drill, used to till the fields and create a furrow for planting seeds at the proper depth. This close up shows the linkage used to set the depth of the drill. Delta Junction, in Alaska's fertile Tanana Valley, is in a relatively dry climate. It is classified a northern desert, which helps to preserve items such as this with a minimal rust. This image is one of a series of photos of this seed drill.
