Description
The Nootka lupine (Lupinus nootkatensis) ranges from British Columbia to the Aleutian Islands. It is a hardy perennial, growing in meadows and on riverbanks. It is also prevalent in Iceland, where it was transplanted in the 1880s to combat erosion. It is a member of the pea family. Seeds form in fuzzy pods which are toxic in humans.
