Stately birches surround this lovely trail through the boreal forest in Fairbanks, Alaska. This trail is located at the Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, approximately 1,800 acres of bird sanctuary consisting of fields, forests, and wetlands. It is also home to moose, foxes and the occasional bear. On this glorious fall day, it teemed with people celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the refuge.
I am a long-time Alaskan, having lived here since 1970. I am retired from state service, after working for the Alaska Department of Corrections for twenty years. In my spare time, I take pictures. I have enjoyed photography since junior high, and I have an extensive photo library. I am working to turn my pictures into an income source to supplement my retirement. My photos include landscapes, nature photos, and abstracts. I have a particular fondness for shooting abandoned places or objects. Subjects range from Southeast Alaska to Interior Alaska, and the stretch of Canada in between. I retain the rights to all images I have posted here.
