I made a quick trip to Fairbanks in early July of 2022. On the way home, I spotted a sign reading Fresh Peonies for Sale. Naturally I had to stop, even though I had no cash. I was delighted to find that the farmer's wife and I had the same money transfer app, and went home with a lovely bouquet of Alaska grown peonies. Peonies have proven to be a viable cash crop in Alaska, and are shipped worldwide. Their peak falls later in the season than those farms in more southerly climates.
