Artist's Description

I love to walk on the docks in Auke Bay, and always have a camera handy. I looked back and spotted these two mature bald eagles on the masts of the sailboat behind me. Eagles are quite common in Juneau, and across the southern coast of Alaska. I have counted a dozen or more while out walking through town. Haines, just up the coast from Juneau, hosts the annual Bald Eagle Festival in October, when eagles congregate in the hundreds to feast on fish returning upriver.

I am a long-time Alaskan, having lived here since 1970. I am retired from state service, after working for the Alaska Department of Corrections for twenty years. In my spare time, I take pictures. I have enjoyed photography since junior high, and I have an extensive photo library. I am working to turn my pictures into an income source to supplement my retirement. My photos include landscapes, nature photos, and abstracts. I have a particular fondness for shooting abandoned places or objects. Subjects range from Southeast Alaska to Interior Alaska, and the stretch of Canada in between. I retain the rights to all images I have posted here.
