On a beautiful day in May, my husband and went for an ATV ride on the Delta Junction Bison Range, located near the Alaska Highway close to our house in Delta Junction, Alaska. The trees were just starting to green up, and patches of snow still lingered in the woods. In the fields between the trees, we found clumps of these lovely purple pasqueflowers, also called prairie crocuses. This image is available in two versions, bright and original.
I am a long-time Alaskan, having lived here since 1970. I am retired from state service, after working for the Alaska Department of Corrections for twenty years. In my spare time, I take pictures. I have enjoyed photography since junior high, and I have an extensive photo library. I am working to turn my pictures into an income source to supplement my retirement. My photos include landscapes, nature photos, and abstracts. I have a particular fondness for shooting abandoned places or objects. Subjects range from Southeast Alaska to Interior Alaska, and the stretch of Canada in between. I retain the rights to all images I have posted here.
