Artist's Description
My son won a helicopter flight from a local company, and took me along on his trip to one of Alaska's many glaciers. I'd hoped for a sunny day, of course, but that did not happen. Since Juneau is located in a temperate rainforest, wet and drizzly days are not uncommon. It was beautiful on the glacier in spite of the weather!
About Cathy Mahnke
I am a long-time Alaskan, having lived here since 1970. I am retired from state service, after working for the Alaska Department of Corrections for twenty years. In my spare time, I take pictures. I have enjoyed photography since junior high, and I have an extensive photo library. I am working to turn my pictures into an income source to supplement my retirement. My photos include landscapes, nature photos, and abstracts. I have a particular fondness for shooting abandoned places or objects. Subjects range from Southeast Alaska to Interior Alaska, and the stretch of Canada in between. I retain the rights to all images I have posted here.
