Devil's club grows everywhere in Southeast and Southcentral Alaska. It can reach a height of six feet, with broad, green leaves. Its name comes from the sharp, painful spines on its woody stems. When you hike in this country, you need to be very careful where you put your hands.
I am a long-time Alaskan, having lived here since 1970. I am retired from state service, after working for the Alaska Department of Corrections for twenty years. In my spare time, I take pictures. I have enjoyed photography since junior high, and I have an extensive photo library. I am working to turn my pictures into an income source to supplement my retirement. My photos include landscapes, nature photos, and abstracts. I have a particular fondness for shooting abandoned places or objects. Subjects range from Southeast Alaska to Interior Alaska, and the stretch of Canada in between. I retain the rights to all images I have posted here.
