My daughter and I hiked the Perseverance Trail into the Silverbow Basin. The trail climbs into the mountains near Juneau, Alaska. The area was very significant in Juneau history, with numerous gold mining operations in the basin in the early 1900s. Gold Creek, pictured here, runs through downtown Juneau as it approaches the ocean.
I am a long-time Alaskan, having lived here since 1970. I am retired from state service, after working for the Alaska Department of Corrections for twenty years. In my spare time, I take pictures. I have enjoyed photography since junior high, and I have an extensive photo library. I am working to turn my pictures into an income source to supplement my retirement. My photos include landscapes, nature photos, and abstracts. I have a particular fondness for shooting abandoned places or objects. Subjects range from Southeast Alaska to Interior Alaska, and the stretch of Canada in between. I retain the rights to all images I have posted here.
